THIS VERY ELABORATE RETRO 1950’S-LOOKING BEIGE (TWO SHADES) SHIRT DRESS BY MAGGY LONDON, SIZE 8, is gently pre-owned, in excellent condition, free of defects or damage, with little sign of wear. It may be vintage. The people running the estate sale where I acquired it told me it belonged to their late mother, but they had no idea how long she had had it. But it does have the look of a well kept older garment. It has short sleeves, padded shoulders, a collar and lapels, and “pocket” flaps (no actual pockets) just below the waist. It has a snap closure, a hook-and-eye closure, and 3 hidden buttons (plastic) on the inside. On the outer front is a 2-button closure with 2 non-functional buttons on the right creating a double-breasted look. These buttons are wood (or possibly faux wood). There are storm flaps in the upper back and the upper right front (picture #9). It has a pattern of flowers and foliage in pale beige against a darker beige background. It has a partial lining (lower rear and sides only) in an unidentified lustrous beige fabric. The outer fabric is linen and cotton in a 55%/45% blend, dry clean only recommended. The stated size is 8, but prospective buyers are encouraged to compare the measurements with those of a dress that they know fits well prior to purchase. Measurements are: chest, pit to pit 19.5″; waist 14.5″; hips 18″; hemline 21.5″; shoulder 17″; sleeve 9.5″; length (in back, collar seam to hem) 39″. If you like the dress but not the price, don’t despair, I’m willing to negotiate. Make me an offer.
